Oops misread the post. Try right clicking the taskbar and looking for options.

I don't see any opinions for turning it off when I go to taskbar properties. I went to My Network Connections in control panels and I see where you can hide the icon when connected, but the problem is I'm not connected to a LAN, so I don't need/want the icon.

I have taken it off my task bar countless times and it just keeps coming back.

Right click the Taskbar Icon for the Local Area Connection and select STATUS.

On the window that comes up, click on the "Properties" button.

Uncheck the Box marked "Show icon in Taskbar when connected"

Icon removed. . .

Good Luck. . .

I right click the icon and I only have "Open Network connections" in the menu that pops up. I go to network connections and click in the properties for my Local Area Connection and I see no opinion to make it not display.

I DID figure it out though...it was very simple. I just clicked the icon for my local area connection in Network connections and in the left, side pane of the window I clicked "disable this connection" and it disabled it and removed the icon from my taskbar.
