When upgrading xp on my compaq presario 5000 US. XP loads to an already existing and very small D: partition that was created by the ME OEM. How can I delete this partition and load xp fresh?

Are you using an XP upgrade CD? Or a retail full install XP CD.

During XP setup when you are looking at the light blue screen XP setup displays your Partition information.
And asks what you want to do.
Reading the instructions will explain how to create and delete partitions. You highligh the partition you want to change, which in your case would be D: partition and the hit the "D' key to delete the partition.
If you are upgrading an already installed ME O.S. with an XP upgrade CD then when it defaults to the D: partition then select a different directory and then click "Browse and find your C: partition and point it there.
and away you should go.

Good Luck.
