How do I load windows on a hard drive that is partitioned(to save files) so that the previous settings(used trial software and want to reuse it) on the whole computer is erased without erasing both drives

If your aim is to reuse trial software that have expired, forget it.

You cannot eradicate the trial software's "Know-All" mechanism unless you reformat the HD & reinstall XP.

Also don't think cleaning out the registry will cure it - it won't.

Well,

actually my main concern is to store vidoes files and mp3s and programs on the storage partition and just keep reloading the os when it starts to bog down.

That is what I have been doin with win 98..but I know that xp is different..

Perhaps clarify your situation a little?

You have a drive with two partitions; Primary for OS/apps etc... and Extended for data only?
