I installed a new power supply last night & everything seemed to be working fine, But when I tried to shut down this morning, all it did was re-boot, so when I tried a 3rd. time, I clicked off the main power button after it said shutting down but before it re-booted. Now every time I try to boot up, it gets as far as the Windows-xp pro splash-screen with the lil blue thingy going across the bottom of it, & that's as far as it'll go, the lil blue line stops moving & it won't go any further.?
I can get into safe mode fine, But when I try to re-boot again into normal windows, it still won't go.?

Any help & or suggestions would be amuchly appreciated, Thanks,

maxx

boot into safe mode and run chkdsk /f on the drive.

Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.

I'm presently in safe mode & I've already run the check disk, but when I checked off ( fix any errors, it came back saying it couldn't run the fix errors, so I ran the check disk without it & it came back "OK". So next, I'm doing a defrag right now.

This is why I always keep a second pc running at home, just incase.

Thanks for your suggestions so far,
Maxx

Hi,

Well I got threw the defrag & was able to get my machine to properly shut down from safe mode. This helped I guess because it seemed to boot up just fine now.

Thanks for all your help though,

Maxx.
