Is there a way to get windows to load without logging in first? I am the only user on my computer so always having it load my profile in the background by default would be fine, but I would also like to have windows prompt me for a password. This would be good because I could turn it on, walk away, log in and have it ready to run instead of again walking away while it loads.

Thanks in advance,
-Ronnie

control panel > users > and delete the other users on the computer. You cannot delete the quest account so make sure it is turned off. Un check the fast user switching capability as it is no longer nneeded.

Reboot. it should load directly to your user account. navigate back to user accounts in control paneland set up a password for your user profile.

Now when you walk away from your computer use the windows logo key and L key at same time and your computer will lock itself. you will need to enter your password to log back in!

Hmm. Thanks for that, but I'm not sure that's quite what I'm looking for. Perhaps if I elaborate it'll clarify the situation.

I'd like to remote desktop into my pc, so i want to make sure i put a good password in so when i remote desktop I'm not using a blank password. My only concern is that if I enable my password in the registry so that I don't have to manually login, if someone does remote in, they'll find the password.

Perhaps I'm misinformed on the security of windows, and perhaps I'm just being too paranoid.
