Load & Run adobe photoshop from external HDD

Specs: Windows XP
I have an old laptop with photoshop PS4 loaded up. Unfortunately the lap top runs very slowly.
Can I load the Photoshop PS4 onto an external hard drive and remove it from my laptop to speed up my laptop. When I need to use the Photoshop PS4 I can then connect to the external hard drive to use the PS4.

Any assistance would be gratefully received

You wouldn't accomplish anything with that method. If you're not using the Photoshop program, it doesn't affect the speed of your laptop, since it's not in use. If you installed it on an external drive and disconnected the drive from the laptop, it would be the same thing. The program is not in use. When you did want to use it, you would have to put up with the transfer speed from the external drive to the machine. You would be better off using the hard drive that's in the laptop already. Photoshop uses a lot of memory. I suspect your laptop is outdated and underpowered for Photoshop. Maybe you can upgrade the memory. Post back with your system specs for more help.
