hello everyone,
i am having problems with my computer ..

specificaly live messenger,
when i installed it it put 2 icons on the taskbar, one icon of the little man-thingy, and one icon of a dark blackish square..

when i highlight the little man it says messenger signed in..when i highlight the bkack square it says messenger not signed in..

if i exit thru the black square it shuts live messenger down

why would i have two icons and how do i fix it??

also since installing this i keep getting low virtual memory warnings which i have gone to the performance and added 1.5x my ram..still getting that message too..

don't know if the problem of virtual memory is related to this or not, but has only happened since live messenger 8 was installed

please help

thanks
gemma

I think you may have the old version and the newer version installed. I downloaded Explorer 7 and have the old version showing up on the tab tool bar.

First check to see what verion each of them is. You probably have the 8 version and one old one. Remember you can't sign in with the same account because it will tell you that you are signed in on another computer.

After you ascertain which version they are by signing in and out of them go into the old one and take any ticks off that tell it to start up or automatically sign in.

I then go into the newer version and set it up to start when you wish it. For all intense purposes I ignore the old version and have it not starting up in my system tray.

Hope that helps.

Thanks

thanks for that suggestion,

but both the icons belong to the version 8..very strange..there is NO other messenger on my computer i deleted all before i installed this 8...

even though one icon says it is not signed in and one says it is..if i exit through the one that says it is not logged on...both icons disappear and messenger shuts down..

any other ideas that you can think of

the dark blackish square says it is not signed on..but actually when i click on it it acts like the little man icon and says it is on??

this is very annoying as today there were two blackish squares both saying not signed on but they are/do belong to the main icon and act that way when clicked on..

help

please help

thanks
