The maximum bandwidth available with AT&T U-verse is only 6Mbps according to their website: https://www.att.com/shop/internet/u...

That's why your internet is slow, it's not the network card as any standard 10/100 card is quite capable of dealing with 6Mbps.

If you want faster internet you'll have to dump AT&T and sign up with a company that can give you more bandwith.

And of coarse they are faster.lol newer operating systems maybe trying something that can't or won't be able to happen on these couple of older machines.

2GB RAM is plenty for XP. Where are you getting your bandwidth readings from? If AT&T U-verse only provides 6Mbps, there's no way you're getting 1Gig. My guess is you have a Gigabit network card & that's where you're getting the info from.

I suggest you try one of the online testers such as Speedtest to determine if it's a bandwidth/connection issue or a hardware issue.
