Limited Account trying to access the Admin

July 11, 2009 at 09:32:02
Specs: Windows XP, 512 mb
I am working at a lab and the computer I use is protected by the IT Department, my boss had the administrator password so if we wanted to install a new software for office use we could do so. The problem is that he has forgotten the password. The next problem is that the IT Department cant figure out how to gain access back into the admin password. They themselves cannot use non of the conventional methods to reset the password, because it cannot be booted from an external drive or a cd, or a floppy drive, it needs the admin password. I have tried everything but everytime I get in Command Prompt "System Error 5 Access Denied". Can u help me?

We could, but this story sounds fishy. I never heard of an IT dept that couldn't resolve this. And why would the boss forget a password that important. Forgive me if I'm not correct, but something stinks about this.

The foul odor emanates from the fact that someone NOT in the IT Dept. is asking for a Password HACK.

"ooooooHHHHhhhh that Smell"

U R Busted!

There is nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you.

Tell your I.T department to go though windows back door if they have not tryed so yet they should know what that is do not hack company computers it is not worth it and most computers are key logged so they can see what you have done in great detail it realy is not worth it and make sure it is not deep frozen or getting in will be pointless becuase no settings will remain changed if it has this tool that locks computers down it will be under control shift alt F6 good luck hope all goes well

Yeah, I know it sounds fishy, but as you know, people in some companies dont do there job. You have to be behind them, for them to do their work. And thats what happens with the IT Department. With my boss, its the same, he always forgets things, always. He said he noted the password somewhere in a paper, but he can't find it. I know you say it sounds fishy, but thats the true story. We, the ones who use the computer were trying to find out, how to get the admin password without loosing the data, but we have failed, we can't. The computer has been working slow these days and we wanted to defragment and do some other stuff to optimize the performance of the system, but what a mess, the IT Department cant do it. I would really appreciate if you could help and certainly I would show those guys at the IT Dept. that you dont have to study to do their job. Thanks fellows.

Thanks. But the problem is that everything in the boot section is disabled, I cant boot from no other device. It requires the admin password. So i guess its impossible until the one who knows the password remembers, if he remembers.
