Hi, Does anyone know of a program or a way to limit the upload speed? I want to be able to limit the speed to only 5KB/sec and no more. Would that be possible useing TCP/IP. I am on a DSL connection connected with a ethernet card.
I know you can change the MTU to make it so you can download faster but what about upload? It would be very helpful if anyone can help.
The reason I want this is because when I upload it goes at it's max 14KB, but if I download at the same time my download speed tops to 50KB/sec instead of the usual 166KB/sec I noticed that when I am downloading at 166KB without uploading, it uploads a 4KB packet to keep the speed, but when I upload and download at the same time, my upload speed gets maxed up so the download speed can send out the 4KB packet fast enough in order to have the full speed.
So i would just prefer to limit the whole net to only 5KB upload.
Thanks chief, and chief''eds

Well first off i dont think you will be able to download at your max speed even if you are uploading at only 5KB/s...Could be wrong but i have downloaded and uploaded alot also on dsl and i tried limiting my ftp server to 5KB/s upload and it really didnt make a diffrence..U never mentioned what program ur using to upload and download..Whatever it maybe u might want to check the settings or options to see if its possible..I would just use a good old ftp server and just make sure u cap the upload speed...If u dont wanna do that u should do a quick search on google or yahoo or even download.com to see if there is an upload limiter avaiable...But i would stick with a good old ftp server like G6...Good luck
P.S. I hate to be the poor guy downloading from u...
