I was running LimeWire 4.9.30 on a computer using MS Windows XP and it was working okay. However, for the past few days, it seems as if LimeWire auto-uninstalls. When I click on the desktop icon, the computer searches for the shortcut and eventually comes back with an wrror saying that the launch file could not be found. When I do a search, I can find the LimeWire installation files but not the actual executable program (LimeWire.exe). Has anyone experienced this or know what could possibly be causing it? I use Norton AntiVirus for my daily virus screening. I also use both Spybot and Ad-Aware weekly on Fridays; AOL Spyware Protection also runs. I tried running LimeWire earlier tonight and it opened and ran perfectly fine but I tried it running it again a short time ago, the icon was missing from the desktop and when I clicked on the location, I received a message saying "Missing Shortcut". When I tried to browse, I couldn't find a LimeWire folder under programs on my C: drive. I didn't do anything between the two tries of running the program (i.e. run antivirus or spyware programs).

just redownload it and install over it again. that should fix it. It's best to know where things are on your hard drive.. you shouldnt have to 'search' for your limewire folder.

I found the answer in a different forum. It appears that AOL Spyware Protection sees LimeWire as spyware and removes it. Since I already use two good spyware programs and use AOL very rarely, I uninstalled the AOL Protection and have had no problems with LimeWire uninstalling.
