Hi Everyone, I have an LG RD 400 which i've been trying to reformat. however, when i try to reformat it through windows XP, it says... "unknown disk" and the hard disk installed is not recongnized. followed by a blue screen if i press anymore problems. Can anyone give me some help? thanks

You cannot reformat the disc through the operating system that is used on the disc. Formating can only be done through the use of another operating system either from the drive being slaved or from a CD/DVD based OS such as that which is used on installation and boot discs (DOS) Do you have the installation discs for that computer....it may have a built in hidden restore partition. If this is the case then reformating the disc could destroy the partiton. Check under programs to see if there is a restore option from a utillity program supplied by the manufacturer....or by checking "MY COMPUTER" for a restore partition.. I had similar problem, just went to BIOS settings, Advanced tab and selected SATA to compatible mode and all worked well. http://www.kuchbhi.com
