Lg DVD writer slow

A couple of weeks ago i reformated my PC because i was running low on space and i had a virus. Since i reformatted my PC, now everytime i burn a dvd/cd it burns really slow. Burning a 4gb dvd will take approx 1.5-2hrs. Before i reformatted i was able to burn the same dvd in 9min.
I can't figure out what is wrong. I have an LG 4163B which can burn dvds at 16x and also a Samsung cdwriter with dvd player. I am using the same dvd-r disc as before (TDK dvd-r 8X).
I checked my Bios to see if DMA is enabled and it is. My DVD writer is enabled at DMA 5 and my CD Writer is at DMA 2. Both have the newest firmware.
These were exact same settings before i reformatted. So i don't understand why it is so slow when i havnt changed anything except for reformatting my hard disk. My PC currently doesn't have much programs on it and there is plenty of space. Can someone help me out? Thanks so much.

You should install your motherboard drivers, if you haven't.

Right click on "my computer" then go to "hardware" and "device manager", and check where the DVD-ROM is installed. I had it on Secondary IDE channel. Right clickon it and click properties, then "advanced settings". If current transfer mode is PIO only, then you have to unistall the Secondary IDE channel, and reinstall it. You'll get the DMA mode back. Apparently, windows switches it to PIO after a number of burning errors... Weird... For me this worked and I'm burning fast, again :)
