I need expert help please - the Lexmark help desk is useless.

Up until a month or so ago, my X75 printer worked perfectly. For some reason, although the printer works, the 'All-in-one' centre which gives access to the photo-copier & scanner won't initiate. I've tried cleaning out & re-installing, & changing drivers. I'm convinced this is either a registry problem, or a conflict problem with Windows XP (eg ini., exe., or dll. file). I'd appreciate any suggestions or help you can give me - thank you.

Richard,
After reading your USER manual, which I downloaded from the following link:-

http://media-server.amazon.com/media/mole/MANUAL000037449.pdf

Either you do what you are doing, that is uninstall and reinstall, or, you check the website for any updates that may be available, through the All-in-one Center. Check the device manager too, and see if there are any odd Lexmark devices in an OTHER HARDWARE heading. it is possible that the whole mess is just corrupted. When you uninstall the software, check the PRINTERS and FAXES window in CONTROL PANEL too, and see if the printer was deleted. It is also possible that the drivers were not REMOVED from the system during an uninstall. You can confirm this by going to FILE menu in the PRINTERS and FAXES window and selecting SERVER PROPERTIES. Select the DRIVERS tab, and see if the are any Lexmark drivers still lurking in there. REMOVE them if there are any.

May I comment on Lexmark customer service? I agree with you, Richard. I found their customer support to be useless too. I also have the Lexmark X75 all-in-one.
If it's any help to you, they did come out with a driver update, quite some time ago. I had a mess too, trying to uninstall the old driver, and then install the new one. That's why I contacted their support - totally useless indeed.
I wish I could offer some assistance to you; all I could think is try the complete un-install, then a fresh install with the newer driver. Hope this helps you out, Richard.....good luck!!

Richard, in case you need it, here is the download for the driver update; the WinXP driver update is # CJXP75LE.exe

It helps to have their uninstaller program. The lexmark software leaves behind a bunch of itself when you try to uninstall it. The uninstaller removes all of the lexmark software and reg entries.
Try running that first then reinstalling the software. You can get it from their web site.

Richard,
I agree with setishock. Lexmark is a bugger for leaving bits of itself all over the place. I helped one person to install and HP printer, and it kept picking up the previous Lexmark drivers!! By going into SERVER PROPERTIES, and DRIVERS, that cleaned out the offending Lexmark drivers. Makes you wonder that they actually offer a UNINSTALLER huh? It's almost like malware. In other words, "How dare you install a printer that is different to our Lexmarks!!!" But you are simply trying to use a Lexmark!
Anyway, I think until you clean out your system of all instances of Lexmark, will you then be able to install a fresh copy again.
