I have a Lexmark 5200 series installed.
have followed all instructions to install printer correctly. At first it prints test page ok alignment etc. it scans. ok. then i when i next try to print the scanned image or any doc from the toolbar i get the message "u need to install a printer.......etc.
from a doc in word clicking the print icon in toolbar i get "cannot print due to problem with printer
setup etc. check printer, reinstall driver etc.
When i go to Print from the File menu however, i get the msg:
No printers r installed, click printers>add printer etc.
In the printers and faxes folder the Printer icon is there and checkt as default Lexmark 5200 series. Ready. When i click the printer icon>Properties which "cannot b displayed bcoz the print spooler service isnt running".
So! i goto services>Print Spooler>Startup type is set to Auto.
But the Service status says Stopped. Despite restarting the service nothing happens. Only when i reboot the computer will it start printing.
In all it seems there is no communication btwn computer and printer.
The problem is with The Print SpoolerSubSystemApp.
Event Viewer shows this:FaultingEvent Type: Error
Event Source: Application Error
Event Category: (100)
Event ID: 1000
Date: 14/08/2005
Time: 16:32:02
User: N/ADescription:
Faulting application spoolsv.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, faulting module rpcrt4.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x0000ef81.For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
whilst typing this ive managed to open the Printer Properties via the system tray. In Advanced what should i have checked regarding the Spool. its currently set to 'Start Printing Immediately'.
In Ports USB is checked and the Printer shown.
Any experts on Lexmark Printers out there? Surely i dont need a new driver. the all-in one printer is new. it prints fine when it feels like or after a reboot.i would welcome help.
Sorry for a long report but i had to mention everything that happens.
I Will Not Fail !!!

Something might have gone corrupt on your installation. I would right click on the printer and re-install the driver using your software disc that came with it, there might me a newer driver on-line, so I'd get that and use the newest driver if there is one. Hope that helps
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks
