lexar jump drive

I put in the lexar jump drive and the machine says found new hardware but I get a message saying that it cannot install this hardware because the wizzard cannot find the necessary software.Need help

You need to install the drivers for the drive , Did you get a cd with the drive?
If not what is the model of the drive

Bob(by big bob) it is a PD 128-04-515-B and I did look at the sites you gave me and I could not find anything on there.Any more help would be appreciated

Go to device manager and check the usb controllers. If need be delete all of them and reboot with the device plugged in. XP will reinstall all the drivers.

I didn't have to install any software to get my 2GB Lexar JumpDrive Lightning working on this machine. Linux (Kubuntu), Vista & XP all picked it right up. In addition, the first thing I did was to obliterate the proprietary PTG crap that was bundled with the drive - you won't miss it, trust me.

So, if you are still having problems with yours, I suggest you go into XP's disk management console and format the pen drive.

Start-settings-control panel-device manager-usb devices-rt click and uninstall-back out and reboot.
