My setting for LET WINDOWS MANAGE WIRELESS NETWORKS continues to get reset and unselected between uses. Always have to recheck this box. How to make this option permanenet and not get deselected?

You don't even have to do that just incase you ever want to use that program again: 1: start > run 2: services.msc 3: Find wireless 0 and click properties 4: Set startup type to automatic Problem solved, hth.
