Left CTRL key changed behaviour...

Annoying one. My Left CTRL key has taken on a promotion. Instead of simply being a ctrl key, it now feels that is beneath it, and instead it toggles the sound on or off whenever it's pressed. This happened recently, but I haven't conciously installed anything specific, and my sound card doesn't appear to have hotkeys to associate - although does show the mute symbol on its icon in the system tray when muted. Checked every setting I can find and updated all my drivers. Help!

Try a different keybaord just to see if the problem can be mimicked. If the result turns out negative, it's the keyboard that needs to be cleaned.

Thanks. A new keyboard solved the problem. Will clean the old one to teach it a lesson and get back to being just a lowly ctrl key.
