My computers left arrow key does nothing when pressed. at first i dident mind but then it became a nucience and now is frustrating me. do you think its a virus/trogan/worm? any thoughts or suggestions?
the button/keyboard may be broke, what type of keyboard it is? how old? and are all the other keys working ok? try another keyboard and see if that makes any difference, my guess is that no trogan or virus will attack just the left keyboard button, its most prob the keyboard itself,
if you want, take the button off with a screw driver or something and check to see if everything is ok under if, their might be dust or something, also try pressing if hard see if that works,
otheriwse get a new keyboard

Thats going to be a problem seeing as im on a laptop
you didnt mention that before.. in that case its most proberbly the keybaord itself and not a virus or anything. you can still take the key off i have done so on many laptops. try pressing really hard on it and see if that moves the cursor if so then you proberbly have dirt under it, or the keybaord is loose underneath. take it to a shop.

One possible solution to this problem that often works is to simply turn the laptop upside down and give it a dam good shake. You will be surprised of what kind of detritus falls out.

Does this laptop have a PS/2 port? If it does, most laptops that have a PS/2 port are wired such that a PS/2 mouse, or a PS/2 keyboard, or both, will work. If you are using a PS/2 mouse and want to try a PS/2 keyboard as well, you just need a standard PS/2 Y cord meant for laptops (PS/2 male one end, two PS/2 female on the other, often color coded for mouse, keyboard.
