Hi; Just new to xp, and in the past I've used zonealarm as my firewall. I realize that xp has one built in, and did a stealth check from gibson research last night. Ports are all fine, but the leak test failed. When testing, I don't get the alert to ask whther I should allow the action, and then it says that I failed the test. Any ideas how to secure the system. Thanks in advance.

Personally I use a router but if you don't have one turn off the xP firewall and install ZA. ZA, in my opinion, works whereas XP is limited.

XP is not a real firewall and should not be used or trusted.
Among other things, it does not monitor how programs use your connections. In fact, it does not monitor your programs at all. It only has limited monitoring of incoming traffic.... and it does not stealth.

Thanks Folks; Very much appreciated. As mentioned, I'm new to XP and do have SP2. Still figuring out how to tweak the o/s. I do have a router, just haven't reconected it yet, but will do so. Thanks again, cheers!
