LCD resolution not supprted

Specs: Windows XP pro, 1G
Replaced my HP 17' LCD with a HP 19' wide screen resolution should be 1440x900 60 Hz but my computer will not support it an d HP said the computer is too old, suggest I get a display card to fix the problem, I have tried the utils powerstrip but couldn't add this recsolution in the settings, any suggestions?

You have to update the video drivers for your onboard graphics...if the resolution isn't supported, you'll need to upgrade to a *real* video card.

Thanks, didn't think of the intel website which is working now, I just went to Compaq's website and the service hotline said it won't work. Not very helpful
