The last automatic update for windows hosed my PC. Norton Antivirus/Firewall won't run anymore, and I keep getting endless "instruction at ... memory could not be read" errors. Is there a way to roll back the system, undo automatic updates, and never update my PC again (I should know by now that, with Windows, you're better off just leaving a working system alone).

The auto update should have created a system restore point..

Click on start.
All Programs.
Accessories
System Tools

Than select Sytem restore, and follow the prompts...

One more thing !!!

The problem you are talking about may have been caused by the last security patch released last week some time....

MS is aware of the problem and are working on the fix....

The update isn't your only problem. What you say is not an update problem. Your system has other things wrong.
