my daughters laptop went into hibernation and she asked her auntie what it meant and she said u need to charge it so she charged it overnight and when we got up she tryed to turn it on and it wont go on can u please help

hibernation does not mean u had to charge it up, Hibernation means the computer has gone into sleep mode but is still working well. All u had to do was to move the mouse, or pres a key and it would come out of sleep mode. When you press the power button do any lights come on?, does it make any noise. If not maybe you have damaged the Laptop by over charging it.

When a laptop goes into Hibernation without prompting then it's almost certainly the result of the power settings (in Control Panel) being set to Hibernate when the battery reaches a predetermined level so in this sense your daughters auntie was probably right that it did need recharging however, once in Hibernate, a Laptop would effectively be completely switched off and need to be switched back on with the ON/OFF switch.
It would not be normal for a laptop to come out of hibernate with a simple key stroke or movement of the mouse. This might be the the case in Standby though which is a completely different situation where it's still on but asleep.
When you get it going again have a look at the power settings and alter them to suit yourself.
As for damage by over charging, this is highly improbable so I would put that out of your head for the moment at least. From what you describe it seems far more likely that either the charger or battery has failed.
If you've flattened the battery and for whatever reason it's not recharging then this would give you exactly the symptoms you are experiencing.
Does the charger have a light on it and is it on ? Does it or the battery get warm after a period on charge, they both should.
Does anything at all happen when you press the On switch, even if only for a few seconds ?
