Laptop Will Not Start Up

Comment:
My laptop stopped working about two days ago.
I went to turn it on by pressing the power button, which lit up like usual, but the screen stayed black. Normally it will show a brief loading screen then ask for a password.
The exterior power light appears when I plug it in. It's registering the power source, so I don't think it's the battery.

Can you hear or feel the vibrations of the hard drive spinning? If so, it's possible that your screen went out. The login screen could be present but you can't see it. If you have sound enabled when you usually logon, blindly type your password. If you hear the windows start-up music, then there's most likely a problem with your screen.
