Laptop is not turning one.

Specs: Windows XP
I have a Dell Latitude D600. I have Window XP Professional installed on there. Yesterday I was on my computer when it just froze on me. I turned it back on after 10 minutes of waiting & then it kept loading up the Dell screen & then it wouldn't load up the Window screen. I have tried reinstalling Windows but then when I went to install it, it gave me the blue screen. I then turned it off & then tried to recover Windows. I tried doing chkdsk/r then it says: "the specified drive is not valid, or there is no disk in the drive." I am trying everything & I just don't know what to do from here. I don't care if you have to format & lose everything, I just want my laptop back up & running. What do I do?

The manufacturer of the drive should have a utility on their web site to download and boot to check the drive. If it passes (good) then reinstall windows - deleting the partition and re-creating it.

C: chkdsk /r
Where C may be your specified drive. Note the needed spaces in the command.
