Sounds like your power supply has gone or possibly worse.

Is there a light on the supply, not all have one. Do you have access to a voltmeter to check if there is any output, normally somewhere around 18 or 19v DC. If there is no light on the supply then undoubtedly there is a light on the laptop which indicates charging, is this on ?

I think you need to check this out first. If the supply is OK then seems like the laptop has gone faulty in the charging department and you'll have to seek professional advice. If you're lucky it might just be a bad connection on the power socket.

I had this once but still they changed the whole motherboard under guarantee.

You might try removing the battery entireally from the notebook or laptop using AC adaptor too, I had a faulty battery a long time ago which cause similiar errors.

Does it power on at all with or without the battery/acadaptor?

Make sure if its an old battery that you didnt insert it backwards, LOL Im not sure if thats possable nowdays, but worth a check...

If nothing works try a different outlet. Sometimes REcepticles go bad. :) Make sure its nothing simple like dead battery and bad outlet plug in the wall :)...

Sincerely,
Joe Christian

For whatever reason I'm pretty sure your problem is simply a flat battery which, for whatever reason, the charger is not charging.

Just because it's new doesn't mean it can't be faulty but if it is then at worst it's under guarantee and HP should fix or replace it.

To your dad...

Can't see how this can be Aarons fault so don't be too hard on him !
