You will face several issues installing XP on a new laptop, some of which may not have a satisfactory solution. My advice would be to not even try. If it came with Windows 7 that is the OS that will work best and the one you should use.

One of these problems is that the XP CD won't have all necessary drivers and it is doubtful that the manufacturer will have them either. Writing device drives requires a great deal of time and effort and most manufacturers cannot justify doing this for what is essentially an obsolete OS.

I don't know why you'd want to run an outdated OS on modern hardware, but that's your business. The 1st thing you need to do is identify all your hardware, then search for & download all the drivers you'll need for XP - chipset, video, audio, LAN, etc. Copy the drivers to a disk or USB jumpedrive so that you can install them after XP is installed. Then google "how to install XP on a SATA hard drive".

The most easy way it so get a free virtual machine and run both W7 and xp at the same time.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.
