Hello all.
I have a Compaq laptop Presario C731TU and I have just wiped Vista and installed XP. I urgently need the following drivers:
1. Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus
2. Ethernet Controller
3. Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus
4. SM Bus Controller
5. Universal Serial Bus (USB) ControllerI’ve been randomly downloading drivers from various websites (from Google search results) but haven’t found any that work yet. Can anyone please help!!!?
AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHH!

Did you look on HP's website? You'll need to be much more specific with your hardware descriptions though.

Hi Jennifer, I didn't find anything on the HP website.
I'm not sure about the hardware descriptions, it's just a standard Compaq Presario C731TU as purchased. I'm looking under Device Manager to see what drivers are missing?

It is entirely possible that there are no XP drivers available for that system. The time to research that issue was before you wiped vista.
You will need to identify the specific model/maker of the components with missing drivers and visit each maker's website to see if they have an XP driver available. You might be lucky but there is no guarantee.

If you're not getting anything from HP it's beacuse you are not searching with the Full Model ID #.
C731TU denotes a Family/group of Notebooks .
Go to the link, take note of the text in RED on the right side as well as the Battery Pack Recall program.

Click on the RED text & you'll be directed to the instructions for Identifying your EXACT Laptop. then you can locate the Drivers.
There is nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you.

Thanks for the replies.
It's all fixed now except for the SM Bus Controller (whatever that does!).

Hello again,
I've just realised there is a problem with the inbuilt Webcam. There is an XP driver installed but I'm not sure how to turn the webcam on! With Vista there was some sort of software that allowed the user to view their own webcam and click a button to take a still image.
Can anyone recommend a similar program I can use with XP?
