no but seriously, in reply to my problem to (sabertooth).. i don't get any beeps with RAM in or out...
not tried to pull out the cmos battery (G), if the battery came lose or went dead...would this stop the whole laptop from working??

Might not stop the Laptop from working but i seemed (at least in my case) that the laptop was stuck in some kind of loop and i would never boot. i powered it down, hit all kinds of keys and tried to get into the settings and non of that worked for me. I finally contacted Compaq and they suggested trying to pull the CMOS battery. Seemed to work for me.. i could at least get into the settings at that point.
