hp pav a1257c pc with DI-164 D-Link router. My hp pav dv5000 works fine wireless. My ze5300 shows wireless net work connect with DI-164, 5 bars, 11Mbps, but no rec'd packets. Using wireless network connection SUPPORT tab, click on repair, tries to Renew IP address. Reports after 2 minutes "cannot be completed", unable to renew IP address. Been trying to correct for last 3 weeks with no success. My thanks to anyone that can guide me to a solution!

make sure the NIC is set to get the IP automatically and the router is set to assign the IP automatically.

I wasn't sure if you meant 1394 or Wireless Network Connection (WNC). However, tried both. On WNC, reconnects after re-enable but still no connect. On 1394, I note "no packets" in or out and tried repair there also. Could not repair because TCP/IP not connected. Is this my problem or to be expected because WNC is not working. I am beginning to feel like a computer novice!

How do I make sure re the NIC is set to get (at the laptop, I presume) and haven't found setting in the router to auto assign. I thought I knew something about computers, been writing my own webpages in html for years and actually helping others with their computers. Feel totally lost!
