Where can I enter the IP-Numbers in a local
network? I hat a network at home, where I
want that the computer automatically detects
the settings. This works ok. But at my work
place every computer has IP-Numbers. So I
want to connect with my notebook to the local
network. But no matter which connection I
choose I cannot enter the IP-Numbers and the
connection fails. What can I do?

sounds like your trying to force and IP on a network and its rejecting cause you have the wrong settings, LAN ip's would be something like this:
192.168.#.#
255.255.255.0or
10.0.#.#
255.255.255.0

Yeah, I know how they look like. But I can't
enter them! I tried to change the LAN
settings in the LAN properties panel. But
there you don't have access to a panel where
you can enter the IP numbers of the computer
and the network.
What can I do?

ok, you must be looking in the wrong place or something broken, heres where you change IP:
Control panel > Network Connections > right click on your connection icon > properties > double click Internet Protocol TCP/IP > click on the little dot to the left of this:
"Use the following IP address", now you should be able to type in the box's.

I have been trying to solve a different networking problem and ran across this post. It sounds to me like you need the following info:
Go to Network Connections, Look at the properties for the LAN connection. Highlight TCP/IP and click the properties button. Then click the "Alternate Configuration" tab. The description on this tab says, "If this computer is used on more than one network, enter the alternate IP settings below." and it lets you manually set IP, Subnet, Gateway, DNS, and WINS. Hope this helps.
