I've been trying to share all of my 2nd PC's hard drive over the LAN, however, I noticed that WinXP blocks me out of some areas by default and it also claims that I can't share the program files folder due to the fact it's used by the OS, is there anyway I can share that folder, or even better yet, knock out all of those restrictions at once? I am the only user on the network thus security with file sharing isn't a big concern, the lockouts are becomming very annoying...

I had to disable the Win XP Internet Connection Firewall before I could share drives, folders, or files on my home network. I'm not at my home computer now and I don't remember the steps, but, go into the Help and Support, and you can locate the disable feature.

Glen, Vincent T. Vantine can share the drives, just his problem is that some system folders are locked. disable firewall wont solve the problem.

In XP professional these restrictions can be removed in control panel - folder options - view - (something like) use simple file sharing.
I would be interested in some registry key to disable simple sharing in home edition as well ...
