I know it's been asked many times over, but I cannot find an answer that works. I cannot get past the login screen as my mouse and keyboard are frozen. The keyboard works in BIOS and the recovery console, but gets stuck at the welcome screen. I have passwords so I cant type them. Please tell me I am not hooped.

Check to see if you have the same problem trying to get into Windows Safe-Mode. ???
If you just installed Service Pack 2, then freezing can happen if you have Malware.

Safe mode does not work either. I think that somehow the drivers are messed up or missing and I need to log into my account so windoze can recognize the devices. Im thinking since the keyboard and mouse work in BIOS and the recovery console that I could do something? Is there a way to somehow get into the settings for user accounts and delete one of the user accounts and passwords so that the computer will automatically boot into the desktop instead of the welcome screen. This is such a stupid problem that there has to be some rational explanation and fix for it. So far everything I've tried has not worked. I do not want to reformat right now.

Just a thought --- In recovery console do chkdsk /r
That will locate bad Sectors on the harddrive, and recover readable information.
