When starting up computer, message appears on screen: keyboard not present; press f1 to continue or del to go to setup.
My keyboard is present, and plugged in. I cannot do anything else from the load screen, as my computer stops and awaits a command from my keyboard, which it is not detecting. Can someone give me some advice on this.
I have an ASUS motherboard.

Yes, it is plugged into the right port. I have tried three different keyboards, and yet none of them work. HELP!

Hate to be the one to break this to you; the PS/2 plug for the keyboard sounds as if it is bad. You could try a USB keyboard and hope for the best. Sounds as if this Asus mobo is having its issues. This is hardware issue, not an OS one. Sorry.

mee too... 2(two) of my asus board had this error... at first I thought I got BIOS virus or something since the sympstoms are similar on both pc (they are networked)... (hey do a search on hardware & security folder, you'll find posts about this from me :p)

I've tried to fix the port at the local tech-guy but they don't have the spare-parts to fix it... they need to buy a bigger spare parts which is almost as expensive as a new mobo (not asus, but lesser ones)...

but what the heck, I finally bought the lesser mobo and it still working until now...

and btw, the tech guy said that the board got damaged because of bad environment :p like dust, heat, etc...

well, yes the PCs were located on a relatively hot & dusty place, but now that I changed the Mobo (a year already), it runs well all the time (same environment and it's on about 15-20 hours a day)
