when powering up the computer, the keyboard and mouse do not appear to have any connection. have checked all wires. previous to this i had problems with the power button to the computer, but now it works.

there is no engagement to the keyboard or mouse when booting.

try boot from recovery disk/cd and see if it responds to kbd.
if not, it's morenlikely bios/cmos problem or motherbd
channel (bus) problem. if not bus, and cmos is socket,
try to find a reasonably compat bios to try in socket (phoenix/
award are almost universal i think) and see
what haps.
