My keyboard on my laptop is messed up. I get numerals when I type some letters (e.g. 3 for L, 6 for O etc.) I tried uninstalling driver and reinstalling after reading one of the postings here. Did not work. I tried last known good configuration. Did not work. Do not know what else to do. I am not able to do anything useful as a result. I wonder how my password is recognized though at login. Please help. Thank you.

It appears your numberpad is enabled. A key combination such at Fn+F11 should disable numerical keypad mode. (See your laptop manual.)

Hi Ram , Your keyboard problem is probably exactly the same as mine was , and was fixed by pressing the key combination that cyber slug mentioned above.. I'd have thought the keyboard would reset itself each time the computer was rebooted , but the lock stayed on for three weeks untill I asked for help on this forum .. There is an on screen keyboard feature with Windows XP just incase your keyboard does lock up..

Thank you both. Numerical keypad through the Fn key was the problem. Fixed now. It was driving me nuts. You are absolutely right about persistency even with reboot. Persistency continued even with uninstalled and reinstalled drivers!
