When I rip files from a music CD,convert to MP3 and save to HDD, the files are alphabetized. When I get ready to burn them, they are burned in alphabetical order unless I remember to click on the "Date Modified" column in explorer. Little bit of a pain.

Even then, if some songs were short and ripped in the same 1 min period, I'm not sure that puts them in the same order as orig CD. Sure, I can probably reorder them somehow, but it's a hassle and I've got a bunch to do.

Is there a way to absolutely keep them in the same order as the orig commercial CD once ripped to the HDD, w/o jumping through hoops like renaming / un-renaming files? I'm using Nero 7.

Thanks.

Name the files with the track numbers:

01 - Track One Name.mp3
02 - Track Two Name.mp3
03 - Track Three ame.mp3

Thanks,

That's one way. Somewhat tedious. Was hoping for a more automated method.

I noticed on one album, explorer showed three different songs were ripped in the same 1 min time span. Unless explorer is internally keeping, but not displaying, minutes and seconds, then they might not be kept in their orig order.

Other ideas?

I don't know about Nero 7 but I have Nero 6 and there is an option to make user defined naming just like Michael says. Do it once and it will save all the songs on an cd in order.

Thanks. I'll look into that.
