Hi:

I am running XP Professional on a PIII with 265MB RAM. I am also running KaZaA ver. 1.6 for downloading mp3's. When I am running KaZaA, I can open all my programs, but when I go to type in any program other then KaZaA, that program shuts dowm after generating an error report. This has also been a problem with previous versuons of KaZaA. Any suggestions how to sort this out?

Kevin

Uninstall Kazaa and go with WinMX. I run it without any problems at all. And... it's a better client. Just go back to a know good restore point, then install WinMX.

Run System restore back to a day when Kazaa worked. I had the same problem. I had deleted registry keys and folders after the uninstall and after I reinstalled it I had the same problem. So I ran system restore and it worked fine. Somethin I installed caused the problem. Who knose what it was.

Please don't use KaZaA, it's full of spy-ware and if you had read the EULA, it says that it may use CPU cycles at whenever time it wants to. To get rid of these peices of spyware, i suggest using a program by LavaSoft USA, I'm not sure what the name of the program is.

Personally I don't like the spyware ... but it's a small price to pay for what i get from KaZaA. Nevermind the 20 gigs of MP3s, or the myriad porno flicks that I've downloaded...

The very instance of Windows XP Professional Corporate Edition that I'm using to type this post was downloaded from KaZaA. Also Office XP, and at least $10,000 worth of other software like Adobe photoshop, Mathematica, Cubase, Acid Pro, Logic audio, Norton Utilities, etc ...

I will say this, if you download from KaZaA your antivirus definitions had better be up to date. A few times I've caught malicious bugs trying to infest my system ... but surprisingly not too often.
