|I recently began to have problems with my pc shutting down on its own from time to time. Then my pc would restart itself, but when it rebooted there would be no video signal and no beeps. Fans run, but the hard drive appears to run and then do nothing. This happens while using onboard or agp video card.|
The strange part is this. If I take the CMOS battery out of the mobo and let the BIOS reset, it boots up and runs perfectly.
I now leave the battery out to avoid the hassle of this happening everytime I restart my pc.
I noticed a capacitor, I think, in the row next to the CPU, that looks like the top is raised a little. Could this cause the video problem with CMOS?
Why does it work when the CMOS is reset?
What could I do to repair this, since these mobos are relatively hard to find now?
