Not only that - it also renders my ability to perform copy and paste ineffective from the point of the very first link. In the past we had adblock but no there is no option to shut it off. I am sure others feel the same way as I do.

Thanks.

Are you referring to those annoying links that pop up when you hover over the link?
Aren't those things annoying?

I got so fed up with accidentally hovering over them that I left the forum for a week. I know... I can hear the laughter now... Just returned this morning and see things are the same, lol.. What timing to see your question, XpUser. I must be psychic or something!

But I despise anything that gets "in your face" and forces itself onto you whether or not you wish to read it or not.. Enough is enough already.
At least the other ad service gave an opportunity to click a link to disable them... this new one does not.

It gets annoying to play 'dodge-em cars' and try not to accidentally hover over a link that will throw up info that you do not wish to read.

You can bet your shirt that there are many folks that (will not..can not) verbally say anything about it for varoius reasons...
I suspect I'll be told ... "If you can't stand the rockin', then jump ship".

I can't swim though... Guess I'll go down with the ship!

Hi clammer -

Yes it's those annoying links that pop up when you hover over the link!

The former advertisers were pretty managable but this one is way too damn annoying. I haven't seen anything like this at other sites that I frequent.

BTW I understand that the ads is produced by ...

CN partnership with Tribal Fusion

... and it helps recover the cost of running this site but it's so irritating when you have no option to turn it off.

I am using IE7 and Firefox 2 - both have popup blockers enabled. Tribal Fusion managed somehow to evade the blockers.

Hey,

That system is in beta. I will tell them about this problem, I guarantee they will fix it, assuming it didn't happen with other ones.

Thanks,
Justin

Thanks Justin - the copy & paste problem began today even though I knew for sometime that you are using the new & different advertiser.

This is quite amusing...usually I get those pesky pop-up adverts but somehow I've been blessed by not getting them with IE7? Just lucky I guess because those ads can be pretty annoying.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Your susceptability to the ads vary in intensity as you browse different forums - you may think you are immune to them if your CN visit is limited to XP or other exclusive software forums.

If you really want to rule the above theory out try the other forums specifically General Hardware, CPUs/Overclocking, Networking & the Gaming forum then report back - See the difference?

sabertooth, luckily I'm not getting any problems on any of the forums (tried them all)...touch wood...I'm usually the 1st one to have those problems. Awhile back I had some of those new ad pop-ups on CN, but luckily they aren't haunting me anymore...at least not at this minute.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

I don't have the problem with the ads.

Maybe it's because I have TribalFusion blocked by my router?

Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.

I've had this little lot in my Hosts file for sometime and never see them any more:

127.0.0.1 tribalfusion.com
127.0.0.1 image.ugo.com
127.0.0.1 tribalfusion.speedera.net
127.0.0.1 spinbox.versiontracker.com
127.0.0.1 ad.doubleclick.net
127.0.0.1 s0b.bluestreak.com
127.0.0.1 static.vpptechnologies.com
127.0.0.1 msxml.467v078s095.com
127.0.0.1 ads.flashtrack.net
127.0.0.1 compnet.us.intellitxt.com
127.0.0.1 kona.kontera.com

Not all are applicable to this particular website but it wouldn't take too much for anyone to work out.

Hello,

I spoke with TribalFusion, they are going to implement a feature to disable the ads (opt-out). It will take some time for them to develop it, but rest assured it will be done. As for the copy and paste, I don't have any problems with it. I'm not sure why you are.

Thanks,
Justin
