Just got my XP PC repaired - no sound

September 22, 2010 at 04:32:19
Specs: Windows 7
I just got my computer repaired and i seem to get sound from my cpu if the speaker wire is half way in. I dont understand how could sound come out of the cpu and it sounds so crappy. So i plugged the wire fully through and no sound is coming from the speakers.
I checked Device manager and nothing wrong there. I also checked control panel - audio devices, SoundMAX Digital Audio is also working.
I have no idea what's going on, i could ask the person who repaired but i cant at this moment and i really want to fix this asap.

CPU = Central Processing Unit, it is a piece of silicon and electronics and is not supposed to make any sound..

The CPU does not produce the Sound the Sound Chip does, if you mean that your Computer has crappy sound then look for an updated driver/software for the Sound Chip......

The thing in this guy's hand is a CPU. CPUs do NOT make noise.

This is called a computer or tower.

Music just sucks out of the tower. I know its not the soundcard or driver or speakers. Its the tower makes the music sound awful

There IS a speaker in the tower, but it's only supposed to be used for beep codes. Someone hooked something up incorrectly. Either that or there's an incorrect BIOS setting. Or it could be the wrong audio playback device was selected. Why don't you just take it back & tell them to fix it? Did you at least call them & explain what's going on?

The only speaker that you would find in the tower is the audio one for system beep codes during posting on startup of the computer.

Edit: Jam's is quicker on the draw.

The sound from the computer is the internal speaker. You will need to go to Control Panel > Sounds and audio Devices. Click "Audio" tab and see if SoundMax is the default device.

Otherwise Start > Run "dxDiag" Click Sound tab to check that the device is loaded.

You may need to re-install sound drivers.
