If you want to format your Drive you will lose all Data on that partition.

If you want to format another HDD in your system you can do this through your Disk Administrator. Right click My Computer, Manage - Disk Administrator, Click on the Disk you want to format, right click format.

If you want to start all over again and want to format a HDD you will either need a bootable DOS or W98 Disk which can be downloaded from www.bootdisk.com

If your system is FAT32 you just boot from your bootdisk and type format c: /s/v (S for transfering the O/S to your HDD and make it bootable, v to name the volume.) If you don't want to have the HDD bootable just type format C: If your system is NTFS and you want to format it in FAT32 you first need to delete the partition with fdisk, delete non dos partiton, create a new partiton, and then format as above.

an easy way is this -but you will lose all data
FORMATTING
While running your current version of XP , insert the XP CD in the drive. When the
setup menu appears, select "New Installation" (clean install) from the pull-down menu.
Also, select
"Advanced" and place checkmarks in the two boxes.
2. Next, your computer will start copying files and then reboot. At this point, select
the same drive/partition that Windows XP is currently installed on. Select the
option to "format" this partition using either FAT32 or NTFS.
3. After the drive/partition is formatted, XP will begin the setup process and install
"clean".
4. After registering and activating XP, be sure to run a "Defrag".

Note: It is important to visit the web site of the manufacturer of your computer to
obtain any special XP drivers.
