Here's one for you web experts. I've got several methods of reducing file size of jpegs for transferring them to my website. That would be about 5 different photo editing software programs from Microsoft Photo Editor all the way up to Adobe Photoshop 7.0 I've been experimenting with all of them and not one of them gives me a better jpeg for the web at 640 X 480 pixels and around 25 to 50 kb than simply right clicking on the jpeg saved to your computer, send to, mail recipient, keep sizes original, and then when oulook opens up, just dragging the jpeg attachment to my desktop. It's fast and simple, can't really do batch files though. But they look the same as using photo editing software. So this is, apparently, your free Win XP jpeg cruncher/optimizer I guess. By the way, I'm only on my first web site. I'm more into photo editing for printing, and using special effects.

Oops. I should have said send to, mail recipient, "make all my pictures smaller." Big difference. Sorry

Actually you can do a batch. I just did 170 jpegs at between 600 kb to 2 mg at 2048 x 1536 pixels to 40 kb at 640 x 480 pixels. It took about 30 seconds. Just go to file, "save attachments" (in outlook) and put them wherever you want to save them. Now all these jpegs are ready for my home page. I went from a folder with 200 mb to a resized folder with 8 mb. 170 photos. It took less than a minute. Cool.

Everyone here in the forum enjoys a challenge, so it's not that. More likely, no one with a solution has yet read your post. 8-)

If no one responds with an answer in the next day, post again.

Good luck, Solarian

Anyway to make this work with Windows 2000? I use W2k and Outlook and I don't see an option for what size to make the file. Any ideas?

Thanks, Matt

Matt,

I believe this is a function of Windows XP but I'm not sure. I started with Win 98 and still have that on my other computer. My new computer (this computer) has Win XP on it. These are the only 2 operating systems I have ever used.

Matt,

I just did a repost of this only worded a little differently. Maybe you can get more info and/or repost your question about Win 2000.
