I regularly receive email attachments from advertising agency. They uses Mac but sends the files as jpeg/jpg. I never have any problems opening these files using windows 98. However, i have recently upgraded to Windows XP Pro, and realizes that i can't open any files (word documents, jpeg files etc)send to me from the Mac machine. When i try to open it, it attaches a .bin extension to the file and indicates there is no program associated with the file.

Can anyone help me with this problem???

Hi Carol,

I assume that you have some picture wiewers or the build in Immage Viewer. Right click on the picture file, choose properties and where it says open with, click change and select a viewer from the list. All those pics should now open with the viewer you choose. Hope it works.

Cheers de Peter

I am no expert, and still learning with helping that I try to do for a problem. This one is interresting.

You should state in your problem, what Web Browser you are using, and what method you use to open the file (right or left clicks).
If you right click, what is the first item on the popup list?

are you sure the agency didn't change a setting on their mac? In school, they have pc's and mac's. Whenever the pc's are full, I use mac's...but I noticed it would always send things in a .bin format. I had to change some settings in the mac in order for it to send it to me correctly.

Thanks for the replies, but nothing is working right now.

Peter, I tried to open the file with Microsoft photo editor, windows fax and viewers and internet explorer, none will open.

The advertising agency said they did change the settings in Mac to save them as jpeg files. What else should i do???
