I have checked my security settings and javascript is enabled. I have installed the Sun JavaScript software. When I place javascript to open a pop up window to another URL, I get this error at the bottom of the page: javascript: void (0) I then move the curser a little off of the link and it says: error on page
What to I need to do to get JavaScript to function? Thanks much.

Open Internet Explorer/Tools/Internet Options/Advanced tab, scroll down to Java (Sun) and make sure there's a checkmark in front of "Use Java etc.", click Apply, click OK and restart your computer.

Sun is responsible for JAVA, which is different than JavaScript. You do not need to install anything for JavaScript to work. You do need to have JavaScript or Scripting "Enabled" in your browser which it sounds like you have done.

When you say you are "placing" javascript to open a pop up window. I assume this means you are writing code, probably in an html file, to open a pop up window?

If so you need to debug your code. You can verify JavaScript is working by testing a Web page or file that uses JavaScript. For help with your code try this site, http://www.hotscripts.com/

One other thing, I just checked using run, cmd, jview and it shows that I do not have the Microsoft Virtual Machine installed on my computer. According to MS, XP has it. Shall I do an install of XP and choose Repair? Never done this before so I am not sure what I will be doing?

If you have Windows XP without the SP1 update and never downloaded the Microsoft Virtual Machine go to the link below and follow the instructions in my Response 8 to Renegade. After you download & install it restart your computer for the installation to complete. You can also read the rest of that thread for more info and don't try the download link in Response 6 because it isn't working correctly. Here's the link to the thread.

Note:
Windows XP doesn't have the Microsoft VM
Windpws XP SP1 does have the Microsoft VM
Windows XP SP1a removes the Microsoft VM
(This whole Java mess is due to the legal issues between Microsoft & SUN).

teri, Just for your information the version (build 3810) at the whidbey link won't install on an XP system which never had the Microsoft Virtual Machine installed. It will install on an XP SP1 system which comes with (build 3809) of the Microsoft Virtual Machine. That's why one must first download & install the build 3809 first on a straight XP system. One can then update it to the build 3810 from the shidbey link or the Windows Update site. If you check my Response Number 8 of the thread at the link below it has a direct download link for the (build 3809) aside of "Homepage:" which is getting hard to find. I hope I haven't confused you too much but this whole Java thing has become a real mess with the Microsoft/Sun legal problems.

OK I have build 3810 installed on the computer. But I still have my original problem, so it must be an error in the script.
This was my original post:

If you mean you are trying to work on the "www.coastalhomefinder.com" web page to create links that is way out of my ballpark. I hope someone with experience in java scripting comes along to help. I'm sorry but I can't be of any help if that's the situation.
