This comp can't log me in to yahoo messenger/AIM/windows live messenger. i can't log into my friendster account, i can't perform online scans (like the one this site recommended to do after signing up), and i can't watch videos on youtube or anywhere. aside from browsing "general sites", i can check my yahoo mail - and that's about the only useful thing this computer does for me. i was able to download ESET not too long ago and performed a scan. i checked the log, it found this "PINIT virus" thing and it said it was cleaned and quarantined. and i also got all sorts of MIME thingies i don't understand but they apparently weren't scanned internally (whatever that means). i tried reading through similar threads, but i didn't find anything (or didn't understand anything)... please help. i don't even know where to start. =(

Have you considered doing a system restore to before when you first got these problems+virus?

Get a free virusscanner from the net, scan your entire drive, dowload and install firefox, and tell us if you now can connect to all the sites you had problems with ...

@tvc nope, i couldn't even download firefox.. something about my browser not supporting frames, or something?...
