I'm using Firefox and I can't get java installed. I've downloaded the right file to my desktop but when I try to run it, it tries to access some file ending in .cab that I don't have. I've searched the Java website and had no luck, anyone know where I can download this .cab file?

Java not safe, learn to live without it. Only unscrupulous websites use it, eg MICROSOFT. Been using Firefox for just over a year & never used it. The odd website won't load maybe because i don't have Java installed so i just go elsewhere. Whatever you are looking for on the internet it is sure to be there more than once.

That is an absurd answer....most financial sites need java, so don't buy any stock either?
What java program are you trying to install?
I never saw one not work with Java. Maybe a messed up install of Firefox. Are you using 1.6 the newest version? If a plugin isn't working, go directly to Sun and install latest version as a program, Firefox will find it.

Thank you for your responses. I'm still confused though. I did go directly to Sun site and tried to download from there, but it didn't work. I downloaded a file an used winzip with it and my computer doesn't recognize some of the files in it. Any suggestions?
