Its running hot (I think) HELP

I think my cpu is running hot. After being on a few hours it gets slower but the heat that is inside that machine is HOT. I would appreciate it if someone can recommend a monitor or something that I can run on the desktop etc. Or maybe some links to easy cooling tricks with fans etc. I will read it all. I want this thing to run very cool. Thanks for your time.

i have just had same problem, if u r in a position to leave the casing off whilst u r working it doeas help with the cooling, i have just invested in a new m/board and cpu from ebuyer.com this new board has loads of monitoring on board.

Depending on your mobo you may be able to monitor those settings in your CMOS setup. If you do not have Hardware monitoring statistics there you can try the monitor here: http://hmonitor.net/product.html

Btw, on my Athlon 2100+ w/1024MB RAM, with my CPU usage bobbing around 1-3% usage right now, my mobo temperature currently is 26ºC/78.5ºF. My CPU temperature currently is 54ºC/129ºF. My CPU temp will jump up another 10ºF when I put a load on it.

Hey i have a ECS k7s5a and an AMD ATHLON XP 1700+/1.47ghz and i am getting a system temp of 40c and a cpu temp of 54c or 55c when im using the computer idle its a little less than that and when i play it goes up to 57c or when its really really hot wich is almost never it goes up to 58c and i never pass anything after that ... my room temperature is about 80f to 85f at day and at night at 20c or 22c and ovbiosly i get a better cpu and system temp at night so i was wondering if im ok if i have no problems whatsoever with my computer meaning any lock ups or frezzes .... i know that my computer is not cold but its not that hot im considering adding more fans ... i got a case fan to let the air in and another one to let the air out and i recently took out the paste that my ANTEC FAN brought and put in some THERMAL PASTE from RADIOSHACK and im getting the same temps as before... please someone anser back.. bye bye
