it takes a long time to shutdown

Why is the desktop of my sister take 5 or more minutes to shutdown? She cannot back up her files because it won't let her save in the cd, only floppy a disc.

helen_aries, FWIW, Windows seems to have been plagued with shutdown problems of one sort or another since day 1. I use a standalone shutdown proggie (for convenience) called 'Slawdog' (said to work on all versions). Get it free @: http://www.slawdog.com/products/sma... among other places. Works good and I drag/dropped the icon into my quick launch so it'd be handy for use. HTH. Ed in Texas.
Please check when you shutdown your PC.If any service is started,so it take time .First check that all services ,process & programs properly close or not .
