it takes a long time to shutdown

Specs: Windows Xp, Intel Pentium D
Why is the desktop of my sister take 5 or more minutes to shutdown?
She cannot back up her files because it won't let her save in the cd, only floppy a disc.

... try this for the shutdown issue: DOWNLOAD. To save files to a CD you need a writable CD ..CD-R ...or a rewritable cd...CD-RW and a cd writer.

helen_aries, FWIW, Windows seems to have been plagued with shutdown problems of one sort or another since day 1. I use a standalone shutdown proggie (for convenience) called 'Slawdog' (said to work on all versions). Get it free @:

among other places. Works good and I drag/dropped the icon into my quick launch so it'd be handy for use.
