OS: Windows XP Home SP2
CPU/Ram: Pentium IV 2.4 GHz/1 GB
Product: Assembled
Comment:

Whenever I open a new tab in IE7 another IE window opens up with some advertisement. I have scanned my computer for spyware but nothing has been reported.

Computer also seems to be running very slowly. Takes a long time to boot and freezes from time to time.
Can anyone help.

Use HiJackThis to track down or check for possible infections.
Important: Create a specific folder on your hard drive called HijackThis to keep its backups.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HijackThis. Download and unzip HijackThis.exe into this folder.

Usually we ask you to visit this website:
http://www.hijackthis.de/index.php?...
where your logfile can be auto anylised.
I've pasted yours into the anylizer and it didn't raise any definite flags. A couple of unknown objects that warrant further investigation but nothing openly malicious.

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.
